USDHS/SEVP Announce COVID-19 Flexibilites End at Start of Fall 2023 Term

On May 11, 2023, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that the COVID-19 regulatory flexibilities, including where exceptions were provided to the maximum number of online courses that can be pursued and counted towards maintaining full-time student status, and the exemption to the F-1 Five Month Temporary Absence Rule for individuals outside the U.S. prior to the start of the Fall 2020 term and unable to return to the U.S., will end with the start of the Fall 2023 term.

Therefore, at the start of the Fall 2023 term, all F-1 student regulations will return to those in place prior to March 9, 2020.
