USDOS Announces Realignment of U.S. Visa Services in Africa
On July 15, 2026, the U.S. Department of State (USDOS) announced that it will be realigning visa operations in Africa to designated regional hubs. This results in visa services not being available at all consular posts, and provides a list of designated Nonimmigrant Visa Locations and designated Immigrant Visa Locations.
The announcement also confirms that the tourist visa bond requirements, inmmigrant visa pauses, and visa restrictions/travel ban for nationals of certain countries remain in place.
Please view the full announcement, lists of designated visa service locations, and an FAQ on the DOS website here.
If any questions arise regarding travel and visa applications to any of the impacted countries/consular posts, please contact your ISO Advisor.
