USDOS Provides Details on Phased Resumption of Routine Visa Services

On July 14, 2020, the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Consular Affairs has posted on its website more detailed information, and an FAQ, on the phased resumption of routine visa services at U.S. Embassies/Consulates (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/phased-resumption-routine-visa-services.html).

Students are advised to monitor the U.S. Embassy/Consulate website (http://usembassy.gov) for confirmation of when services will resume at their particular consular post, procedures for scheduling a visa interview appointment, and any guidance on the ability to apply for an expedited/emergency appointment.

Students who are applying for new F-1 or J-1 visas at a U.S. Embassy/Consulate are asked to update the MIT ISO via iMIT to on when you have secured your visa interview appointment and have received your new visa. You can login to iMIT, select the left-hand menu “Admisson”, and click on “Visa Interview & Approval” and complete the requested eforms.
