Alison Day
Assistant Director for Operations and Advising

Alison joined the ISO in 2021 and currently works as the Assistant Director for Operations and Advising. Alison’s role comprises of overseeing the continued development of ISO operations, while also serving as an ISO advisor to international students regarding their U.S. immigration status, employment, academics, health and wellness, and cultural adjustment concerns.
Alison has worked in the field of international education and exchange since 2014, serving as an Assistant Director/Foreign Student and Scholar Advisor in the Office of International Education at Carnegie Mellon University, and previously as an International Student and Scholar Advisor at the University of North Dakota.
Alison is originally from California, and she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from California State University, Stanislaus. Alison also holds a Master of Arts in International Communications from Leeds University (United Kingdom), and a Master of Arts in History from Newcastle University, (United Kingdom).
Alison’s love of travel and learning about other cultures began during her time living abroad in Scotland, England, and Mexico. These experiences developed a vast appreciation of the globe and the “global village” it has become, taking her all over the world. Needless to say, the list of places she wants to visit are endless. A few of her favorite things include travel, coffee, and animals. She is the proud owner of a rescue pup named Einstein and she is constantly amazed by everything MIT and the Cambridge/Boston area has to offer.
