ISO Virtual Travel Forum

December 11 @ 7:00 pm 8:00 pm

The ISO will be hosting a virtual forum on travel issues on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 7:00am-8:00am for current MIT international students and recent alumni on post-completion OPT/STEM OPT/Academic Training.  The Zoom link will be emailed to current MIT students/alumni.

The forum will review ISO resources and guidance on issues including:
*recommendation to avoid non-essential travel outside the U.S.
*documents to carry when traveling (both inside and outside the U.S.)
*reminding students to have proper travel signatures on Form I-20 or Form DS-2019 (and how to request documents with travel signatures if needed)
*risks/considerations if need to apply for a new entry visa from the U.S. Embassy/Consulate abroad (if current entry visa will be expired by planned return date to the U.S.)
*review recently released U.S. federal policies impacting international students and alumni

An opportunity to ask questions of presenters will also be provided.

The ISO will post the slidedeck from the forum a few days after the event.

For any questions about travel and visa issues, please view the extensive ISO resources and guidance on the ISO Visas and Travel webpage (https://iso.mit.edu/visas-and-travel/).  If students have specific urgent questions after reviewing these resources, please do not hesitate to contact your ISO Advisor.
