How much money/cash can I bring with me (on my person) to the U.S.?

We advise that students be sure to have available to them at least sufficient funds to cover at least 1 full month of costs with them in cash or traveler’s checks to cover costs until you set up a U.S. bank account.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) does advise that bringing the equivalent of US$10,000 on their person would require additional reporting of that funding in advance of arrival to the U.S. or at time of entry to the U.S. Details are available on the USCBP website here.
