What documents do my family members need to carry if they are traveling and I am not traveling with them?

Dependent family members (on F-2 and J-2 visas) need to carry their personal visa documents — Form I-20 or Form DS-2019 with travel validation signature, passport, have a valid entry visa in their passport issued by a U.S. Embassy/Consulate abroad — plus carry photocopies of all of the Student’s (F-1 or J-1) primary visa documents (passport, Form I-20/DS-2019, valid visa, I-94 record) plus copies of financial support documentation and proof of the Student’s enrollment at MIT (e.g. copy of transcript).

Please consult the “Entering US Borders” page of the ISO website for additional details as it relates to the F-1 or J-1 travel for a more detailed listing of documentation.
