What if the program name printed on my I-20 or DS-2019 is different from my MIT program name?

The program printed on your document is determined by the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) code. MIT assigns CIP codes to all programs at the Institute based on the CIP code description and MIT’s course description. Sometimes the CIP code and MIT course do not match up exactly. For example, Course 6-2 (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) has CIP Code 14.1001 which translates into Electronic and Electrical Engineering. If you are concerned about the program printed on your I-20/DS-2019 please contact your ISO Advisor.
