I am graduating, can I still work on-campus at MIT?

After completing degree requirements, an MIT international student may not continue working at MIT until they have secured F-1 Post-Completion Optional Practical Training or J-1 Academic Training authorization as the student is no longer a student, but an alumnus. Working at MIT after completion of degree has the same requirements of employment authorization as working at any other employer in the U.S.

Students, and their department/lab, should plan on the possibility of a break between when the student finishes their degree and when they can begin working again at the lab. Regulations are very strict on this and students are advised not to go to the lab/department after completion of degree until they have the OPT or AT authorization in hand.
