In the Driver’s Seat

In the Driver’s Seat

Do you have any special plans for this summer vacation? Flying or driving? “In the Driver’s Seat” is a 20th century idiomatic phrase, and it basically means that someone is in a position of authority and in a control of a situation. That is, you are being capable of directing the situations, just like you would be if you were the driver of a car. Examples would be: “Being offered the position of managing director, I’ll soon be in the driver’s seat” or “Four Ways Self-managing Keeps You In the Driver’ Seat (Forbes, May 11 2018)”
